We have been living in Slovenija for almost a year!

Update from Aleš, Whitney & Lanea Lajlar Spring and Summer 2007

  English Camp 2007
We recently had an outreach team from Tennessee join us for a week of serving the Celjan area students in the area of English. We had 28 students attend this year, and it was great fun, as well as a lot of work! Last year we only had 11 students, so we were really amazed at how many singed up. Aleš was in charge of all the meals at the camp, and Whitney manly helped with late night preperations. We weren't apart of the actual classes, but we got to hang out with the students during their 2 hour launch brake, and in the evenings. Towards the end of the camp we helped organize and amazing race, which took students on a crazy race around three different cities, looking for clues and solving tasks we prepared for them. It was a really great time.

    Aleš' Web Work
Aleš has been doing a lot on the web. Since we moved here, he has been overseeing the church's web site www.kalvarija.si, and he recently built a website to help Christian churches and organizations host their sites for free online. This mainly happened because there are so few Christian resources online in the Slovene language. Only four Christian churches in Slovenija have their own web site. The free hosting site is actually an off branch of the main site www.protestant.si. The site was built so all the Evangelical/ Protestant churches would have a main site, so people could locate them. However, we came up to some serious opposition from some of the leaders in the main denominations, and so it was put on hold for right now. Aleš' main desire was for this site to bring unity among Christians in Slovenija, and some people are just not ready for that. So now we trust that God will in His timing do the work to unify His church in our country.

  New Hope concert
There is a group from California, called New Hope, who tour Slovenija yearly sharing the gospel through drama and music. This year they opened up their program to native Slovenes! Both of us auditioned, and we were accepted for the 2007 tour. We will begin preparing immediately with those in Slovenia, and on October 19th we will join the rest of the team, traveling and sharing the gospel every evening for ten days in a different major city. Both of us will be singing in the choir, Whitney will be duing a black gospel solo and Aleš will be preforming in one of the dramas. Whitney has trained in opera for 3 years, and it has been her dream to be able to share Christ's love and His gospel in this way. Aleš also did acting for over 7 years, so he had the desire to use that gift for God. We usally don't do this, becasue we have seen God faithfully provide without us ever saying anything. However this time we felt led to let you know our need in this area. Since we will be staying in different hotels and all our meals are provided for the entire trip, we were asked to try to come up with about 500 dollares for person. Since neither of us have a steady job and no constant income, we wanted to give you the option if God puts it on your heart, to serve Him in this way. We have an account with US Bank where you can deposit the money. The account number is: Whitney Lajlar, #1 533 5234 3427.
